Sambor Prei Kuk

Sambor Prei Kuk is the modern name of a Hindu temple complex in Cambodia today, in the present province of Kampong Thom. It is the old city Isanapura. It was built in 615 by Isanavarman I.. There are also indications that there were previous settlements.

Isanapura was the capital of the kingdom of Chenla, which flourished in the seventh and eighth centuries AD here. The ruins consist of more than 150 temples and towers and cover an area of over 300 hectares. There are three main complexes, which were surrounded by walls. The temple buildings are richly decorated with reliefs.
