Samhah

Samha (Arabic سمحة, DMG samha, also Samhah ) is the third largest and smallest inhabited island of the Socotra archipelago in the northwestern Indian Ocean. It belongs politically to the Government of the Republic of Yemen Hadramaut.

Geography

The island is located about 70 kilometers east of Abd al- Kuri and 46 km south-west of Socotra, the main island of the archipelago. Samha and its neighboring island, 17 km away Darsa in the east are also referred to as al - Ikhwan / الإخوان / al - Iḫwān /, the brothers '. Samha is nearly 12 km long, up to 5.5 km wide and has an area of ​​about 40 km ². The island has around 100 inhabitants ( as of 2004), who live on the north coast in one place.
