Samuel Butler (schoolmaster)

Samuel Butler ( born January 30, 1774 Kenilworth, Warwickshire, England; † December 4, 1839 ) was an English scholar. He worked as a teacher in Shrewsbury and was Bishop of Lichfield.

His grandson, the philosopher and writer Samuel Butler (1835-1902), wrote a biography about him.
