Samuel de Lange

Samuel de Lange Jr. ( born October 22, 1840 in Rotterdam, † July 7, 1911 in Stuttgart) was a Dutch- German organist, teacher and composer.

Life

Samuel de Lange ( Jr. ) was the son of the Rotterdam organist Samuel de Lange ( sr. ). He has appeared in the early years emerged as the organ and piano virtuoso. De Lange studied from 1858 in Lviv, where he lived until 1863. From 1864 he was organist and organ teacher in Rotterdam. Further stations were 1874 Basel, 1876, Paris, Cologne, 1877, 1884, The Hague and from 1893 Stuttgart. In Stuttgart, he was lecturer at the Conservatory, from 1895 professor. He headed the Conservatory 1900 until 1908. As a composer, he stepped out in all genres, with a focus on church music. These is the oratorio " Moses " (1889 ).

He gave the Apparatus Musico Organisticus out of Georg Muffat.
