Samuel Ealy Johnson, Jr.

Samuel Ealy Johnson, Jr. ( born October 11, 1877 in Buda, Texas, † October 23, 1937 in Stonewall, Texas) was an American farmer, a politician of the Democratic Party representative in the Texas House of Representatives and the father of the U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson.

Life

Sam Ealy Johnson was the fifth child of his father's eponymous Sam Ealy Johnson, Sr. was born 1877 in Texas. He grew up in modest circumstances, although he did at a young age was considered intelligent. Originally Johnson wanted to be a lawyer, for financial reasons, however, was initially forced to work on the family farm. Nevertheless, he was perceived as his loyal and friendly demeanor soon became known in his home region on the Pedernales River, so he decided in 1904 to run for a seat in parliament in the Texas House of Representatives. As a candidate of the Democratic Party was able to win him this election, after which he held from January 1905 to the 89th district in the federal state parliament. However, since these were a celebration evening Parliament, Johnson continued to be on his activities as a farmer after. In Parliament he was in 1906 elected for a second term after he had introduced a bill to liberalize in dealing with calves at sporting Eventen. His electoral mandate he practiced after winning re-election until the beginning of 1909. Eight years later, in 1917, he was elected in a special election again in the Texas House of Representatives for the 89th district after this seat was surprisingly free. His re- election was unopposed so he again exercised this mandate obtained by re- elections in 1918 and 1920 to January 1923.

On August 20, 1907 Johnson married Rebekah Baines (1881 - 1958), daughter of a Bapitstenpredigers. (1908 - 1973) One year later, on August 27, 1908, the first son of Lyndon B. Johnson was born, which should be 1963 to 1969 President of the United States. In addition to Lyndon B. Johnson, four other children went out of the marriage: Rebekah Johnson Bobbitt (1910-1978), Josefa Johnson White Moss (1912-1961), Sam Houston Johnson (1914-1978) and Lucia Johnson Alexander (1916-1997 ).

Sam Ealy Johnson died on 23 October 1937 at the age of 60 of a heart attack. This fact was kept secret for a long time during the presidency of his son. His son Lyndon died in 1973 at the age of 64 years also a heart attack, as well as his second son, Sam Houston Johnson. A few months before his death, Lyndon B. Johnson was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, the political career of his son, senator, majority leader in the Senate, Vice President and President Johnson should not experience, however. His final resting it finds on the family cemetery near the Lyndon Baines Johnson of Johnson Ranch.
