Samuel Plimsoll

Samuel Plimsoll (* February 10, 1824, † June 3, 1898 ) was a British Member of Parliament, who moved against a shipowner shaft to the field, let the deliberately unseaworthy vessels extend to obtain the sum insured at shipwreck.

He mobilized public opinion against Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli and the shipowner for a bill against unseaworthy ships ( Ships unseaworthy Bill). She led in 1890 to the labeling of all merchant ships of the Kingdom of the so-called load line mark, graphically a horizontal line with circle, which was later adopted by nearly all maritime navigation driving nations.
