Samuel Smith (Pennsylvania)

Samuel Smith ( * before 1780, † after 1815 ) was an American politician. Between 1805 and 1811 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

The Life-history of Samuel Smith are not known. Also, there is little information about his life beyond politics. Between 1803 and 1805 he was associate judge in Erie County, Pennsylvania. Politically, he was a member of the end of the 1790s by Thomas Jefferson founded the Democratic-Republican Party.

Following the resignation of Mr John Baptiste Charles Lucas Smith was at the due election as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he took up his new mandate on November 7, 1805. After two re- elections he could remain until March 3, 1811 in Congress. In 1810, he was not confirmed. After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives, the trace of Samuel Smith loses again.
