San Marino is a city in Los Angeles County in the U.S. state of California, United States, with 13,300 inhabitants ( 2004). The metropolitan area has a size of 9.8 km ². The city is located near Arcadia and Diamond Bar

A well-known landmark in San Marino is the Huntington Library. This was built on the site of a ranch in 1877, bore the name of San Marino and after the city is named today. The famous astronomer Edwin Hubble, who discovered, among others, the expansion of the universe, died here in 1953.
