San Siro (Genoa)

San Siro is one of the oldest churches in the city of Genoa. It was in the 4th century in the center of the city, today's Old Town, built. Was she named first by the Twelve Apostles, as she was awarded the title on the death of canonised bishop Siro. San Siro was up to the inauguration of the San Lorenzo Cathedral, the Cathedral of Genoa.

1006, the church was handed over to the Benedictine order and completely rebuilt. After a fire in 1580 it was restored from 1585 to 1619. Except for the facade, which was created in 1821 by Carlo Barabino, it has since retained this shape.

In the church are works by Orazio Gentileschi and Carlo Bonone.
