Sand River (Ontario)

The Sand River (French Rivière sand) is a tributary of Lake Superior in Ontario, Canada.

The Sand River is the outflow of the village in Lake Superior Provincial Park Lake Sand Lake. It flows through the provincial park in the south and ends after 56 km in the Lake Superior.

Tourism

The Sand River is a popular whitewater waters. A 4-5 day canoe tour leads from Sand Lake to the estuary. The Sand Lake can be reached from the breakpoint of the Algoma Central Railway at Mile 136.25. There are 29 marked portage sites along the river route.
