Sandra Pierantozzi

Sandra Pierantozzi, born Sandra Sumang ( born August 9, 1953 in Koror ) is a politician from Palau.

Biography

Between 1989 and 1993 Sandra Pierantozzi was Minister of Administration and Finance in the government of President Ngiratkel Etpison. In the 1996 elections, she was elected senator.

On 7 November 2000 she was elected Vice-President of Palau and took up her post with the swearing-in on January 1, 2001. Thus, she was Deputy President Tommy Remengesau. At the same time they took over the government in the Office of the Minister of Health. In her role as Vice President, she spoke at the 57th United Nations General Assembly in New York, among others, on the impact of the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001. In the presidential election on November 2, 2004, President Remengesau prevailed though, but she succumbed to her challenger Elias Camsek Chin significantly with 71.1 percent to 28.9 percent. However, it was in 2005 elected a member of the second Constituent Assembly.

The newly elected President Johnson Toribiong they nominated on January 21, 2009 Secretary of State (Minister of State ). After confirmation by the Senate with 11 votes to 2, they could officially take up this office on February 6, 2009.
