The Sani Pass, Sani Pass English, is a lying 2873 meters above sea level mountain pass in the Drakensberg between the East of Lesotho and South Africa. He is the highest pass in South Africa.

About the Sani Pass road from Mokhotlong Mokhotlong leads district in Lesotho in the South African Underberg in KwaZulu -Natal. The pass road runs on the western side through the highlands of the Drakensberg (also Maloti Mountains ) of Lesotho. On the South African side it winds in numerous serpentines the steep slope down to the valley of the Mkhomazane is achieved. The South African road to Sani Pass is the drittsteilste pass road in the world. On a 6.5 km long section 1330 meters of altitude to be overcome. The road is not paved, to develop the road plans are currently (2010) discussed controversially.

The South African border post is not in the actual limit on the pass, but at the foot of an eight- kilometer route. The road may be used only with all-terrain vehicles between border guards and pass.

At the summit is the highest pub in Africa. The South African side of the mountain pass located in the Ukhahlamba -Drakensberg Park.

The road over the Sani Pass is the only road connecting the eastern border of Lesotho to South Africa.
