Sant Sadurní d'Anoia

Sant Sadurní d' Anoia is a Catalan city in the province of Barcelona, in northeastern Spain. It is located in the comarca of Alt Penedès.

Location and climate

The built on a chalk cliff village on the small river Anoia is bordered to the south by the mountains of the Garraf and is located in the fertile plain of the Penedès. Here since the 18th century wine is grown.

Economy and Transport

Sant Sadurni d' Anoia is known for its sparkling wine producing Cava. About 90 % of the Spanish Cavaproduktion aging cellars are produced in the numerous dug into the chalk cliffs. Well-known brands such as Freixenet and Codorníu have their home here.

A good transport links to the West ( Tarragona) and east (Barcelona ) is given both by the toll motorway (AP -7) and also by a railway line. Sant Sadurni d' Anoia is involved in the S -Bahn network ( Cercanías ) of Barcelona.
