Santa Cruz (Chile)

Santa Cruz is a city in Chile. It has 32,000 inhabitants (as of 2005), situated in the province of Colchagua. This is the Región del Libertador General Bernardo O'Higgins.

Geography and climate

Santa Cruz is located on the river Estero Chimbarongo some 181 km south of the capital Santiago and 41 kilometers west of San Fernando, on the way to the Pacific beach and surfers paradise Pichilemu.

The city is supplied from the river Río Tinguiririca and the lake Lago Rapel with water.

The average annual temperature is 14 ° C. The rainfall is 500 mm / year.

History

The municipality of Santa Cruz was founded on 22 December 1891. The town was founded in 1906.
