SAP R/2

R / 2 was used from 1979 ERP software from SAP for use on mainframes. R / 2 was on the operating systems MVS or VSE from IBM and BS2000 by Siemens. The operation was carried out using text terminals such as the IBM 3270th The successor system was from 1993, the R / 3

Before R2 existed from 1975 R1. The software has been used on the IBM System / 360. Previously, it was from 1973 RF system for use in financial accounting. This product was the first software company SAP.

The programming language ( and by extension runtime environment ) was assembler at the beginning. The programming (including from screens and associated module pool, update program and batch programs ) was performed using predefined macros. Evaluations could also be programmed in the macro language ABAP ( " General report and analysis processor "). Then the high-level language ABAP IV was developed later, which / 3 is used in R / 2 and R in the implementation of the application functionality. The acronym ABAP was then reinterpreted ( and internationalized ) "Advanced Business Application Programming ."

In spite of old age, the system still has a certain reputation, because it was widely used in large companies (for this it was affordable, also because of the necessary data center ), and because of its high durability.
