Sara Carter

Sara Carter ( born July 21, 1898 Sara Dogherty; † January 8, 1979 ) was an American country music singer.

Sara was a member of the original Carter Family, which played a leading role in the country music 1927-1943. She married H. P. 1915 Carter. About ten years later joined them Maybelle Carter, who was married to a brother APs. The first formation of the Carter Family was so completely.

After her divorce from A. P. married Sara again and retired for some years from the music business. In 1952 she teamed up again with her ex-husband. Together with her daughter Jeanette they left the Carter Family resurrected for a short time.

In the sixties, Sara came up together with Maybelle to folk festivals, where they were enthusiastically celebrated than legends.
