Sarajevo Film Festival

The Sarajevo Film Festival is held annually in August in Sarajevo International Film Festival.

The film festival has been founded in 1995 during the siege of Sarajevo. Nevertheless, it was already the first festival in which 37 films from 15 countries were shown to attract 15,000 spectators.

Since 1996 the festival has an international competition.

Competition

The Sarajevo Film Festival is accredited as a film festival with a specialized competition at the international film producers association FIAPF. This specialization is a regional: In international competition exclusively run films from Eastern Europe. The main prize of the festival is the "Heart of Sarajevo " ( Srce Sarajeva ), which is awarded to the best film.

The Sarajevo Film Festival will award additional awards as an honorable mention from the jury, an audience award and a short film prize.
