Sardar Jalaloglu

Sərdar Cəlaloğlu ( alternative spelling Azerbaijani Särdar Cälaloğlu, actually Sərdar Cəlal oglu Məmmədov or Särdar Cälal oglu Mämmädov; born June 3, 1954 in Babək, Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan ) is an Azerbaijani politician and the first deputy chairman of the Azerbaijan Democratic Party.

Life

Sərdar Cəlaloğlu comes from a family of teachers. 1970-1977 he has successfully completed the Azerbaijan Medical University. He is a co-founder of the Azerbaijan Popular Front (1988-1990) and was a board member. He is also co-founder and first chairman of the Azerbaijan Democratic Party. Sərdar Cəlaloğlu is also the founder of two newspapers - " Hürriyyat " and " Haray " - and the magazine " Oyanisch ".

He was arrested three times for a short time because of his political activities. In 2003, after the presidential elections in Azerbaijan, he was arrested again and sentenced to imprisonment for a term of four years and six months, but then accepted and released from the Euro Europe as a political prisoner. He is married and has four children.
