Sardinian people

The Sardinians are the native people of the island of Sardinia in the western Mediterranean, which belongs politically to Italy. Residents are called " Sardinian " and not, as often assumed as Sardinians, of whatever ethnic group they belong to.

The Sardinian people has about 1.0 to 1.3 million people and covers approximately with the speakers of the Sardinian language, which belongs to the Romance language family. To Alghero a Catalan dialect is spoken locally bounded, and in Arborea in the province of Oristano lives a group of Mussolini resettled mainland Italians who speak a Venetian dialect.
