Pale pitcher plant ( Sarracenia alata )

The Pale pitcher plant ( Sarracenia alata ) is a carnivorous plant species of the family of Pitcher plants.

Description

The upright tubular leaves are 20 to 60, rarely up to 80 cm high, the tube opening measures 3 to 5 cm and runs to the front too narrow from this tip runs down an Ala down to the approach of the hose. Their coloration is extremely variable, usually they are of a yellow-green color, both the Vein, the upper part of the tube as well as the entire sheet but can be colored according to blow weak to deep red.

The inflorescence is 25-45 cm high, the diameter of the flower is 4-7 cm. The sepals are slightly pointed, and of greenish-yellow color, the petals 2-3 cm long, round and creamy white to pale yellow (to pure white rare) colored.

Dissemination

To find this species is on the Gulf Coast of the United States in Texas, Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi.

System

The species was first described in 1863 by Alphonso Wood, the specific epithet refers to the wing bar of S. alata. Untertaxa not exist.
