Sartaq Khan

Sartaq Khan, also known as Sartaq of Christ ( † 1257 ) was in 1255 after the death of his father, Batu Khan of the Blue - or the Golden Horde.

He was considered a friend of the ( Nestorian ) Christianity and acted to 1248-51 already some time as his father's deputy, as this - dealing with the succession question - was staying in the Ili region. It was his squad leader, which began in 1252 Alexander Nevsky against his brother Andrej as Grand Duke. Sartaq Khan died after Armenian sources on his return from Karakorum in 1257 to a " stomach ailment " or was simply murdered. Behind it probably stuck his uncle Berke Khan and Berkejar, two Muslims, where Berke within a short time became his successor.
