The Sassyk Lake, also Kunduk - Liman (Ukrainian Сасик, Russian Сасык ), in which Ukraine is an average of 2.5 m deep Liman, a brackish water lagoon with access to the Black Sea. With a length of 35 km and a width of up to 11 km, the area is 210 km ². 1978 After a dam was built, the fully separated the lagoon from the sea, the Sassyk Lake changed into a freshwater lake. It is fed by the rivers Sarata and Kohylnyk and over the Danube Sassyk channel of the Danube.

In 1996, the lake was declared a Ramsar site in 1998 as part of a 262 km ² nature reserve.
