Satibarzanes

Satibarzanes (Greek: Σατιβαρζανης ) ( † 330 BC) was under the Persian king Darius III. Satrap of the province of Aria in the west of present day Afghanistan.

When Alexander the Great was advancing Coming BC by Hyrcania in 330 to Satibarzanes, whereupon Alexander Reserve left him the administration of the satrapy of Aria showed. In their place, he had a Hellenistic settlement called Alexandria build, now Herat. Satibarzanes, meanwhile, had to flee to Alexander adversary Bessus managed; he gathered a force of 2000 cavalry around and fell again in Aria. Alexander sent him an army against under the leadership of commanders Artabazus, Erigyios and Karanos. In the battle against this Satibarzanes fell.
