Saturnino Lizano Gutiérrez

Saturnino Lizano Gutiérrez ( born November 29, 1826 in Esparza, Costa Rica, † April 19, 1905 in San José (Costa Rica) ) was 6 July to 10 August 1882 President of Costa Rica.

Life

His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Gutiérrez y Flores Avendaño Saturnino Lizano Gutiérrez y Lizano was a member of the Partido Libaral

He married on April 4, 1875 Angélica Guardia Solórzano, the daughter of Tomás Guardia Gutiérrez. In this marriage two children were born: Gonzalo and María del Rosario Lizano Guardia. He was a farmer and trader, preferably in the area of Puntarenas.

1869-1870 he was a deputy in the Parliament. In 1870 he was a delegate at a Constituent Assembly. Between May and July 1876 he was a government minister and industry minister. In July 1876 he was Minister General. 1876-1877 he was Minister for Government, Public Works, War and Navy. July-August 1876, he was Secretary of State. 1877-1878 he was financial agent of the Government of Costa Rica in London. 1880-1882 he was a government minister and deputy 1881-1882 his father, the president.

Presidency

When his father Tomás Guardia Gutiérrez fell ill in July 1882, he was Executive President. As Tomás Guardia Gutiérrez died on 6 Julie 1882 he was Executive President. On July 20, 1882, he appointed the seventh deputy Próspero Fernández Oreamuno to take office representative. This took office on August 10, 1882.

After the presidency, he was Nachrückabgeordneter Alajuela, Deputy Governor for Province of Puntarenas.
