Saw Maung

The General Saw Maung ( burmese စောမောင်; b. 1928; † 24 July 1997) was a Prime Minister of Myanmar.

Saw Maung staged a coup at September 18, 1988 to power in Myanmar, deposed the President Maung Maung Kha, leaving on the same day the pro-democracy demonstrators reflected. On September 21, 1988 he also took over the post of prime minister. The new military regime established himself as a " State Council for the restoration of law and order," the SLORC (State Law and Order Restoration Council), among other things, forbade any gatherings of more than four people and went before brutally against infringements.

In the years 1988 to 1991 Saw Maung took over in addition to other functions, the Minister of Foreign Affairs. In 1992, he finally handed power in Myanmar Than Shwe.
