Say is a department in the region Tilabéri in Niger.

Geography

The Department is located in the southwest of the country, bordering Burkina Faso. It consists of the township Say and the rural communities Ouro Guélédjo and Tamou. The eponymous capital of the department is Say. In the south of Say is the National Park W.

History

After independence in 1960, Niger's territory into 32 districts ( circonscriptions ) was divided. One of them was the district Say. 1964 was divided into seven administrative reform Niger departments, the predecessor of the later regions, and 32 arrondissements, the predecessor of the later departments. As part of the county Say was converted to the arrondissement Say. Moutari Moussa, later president of the National Assembly, presided from 1981 to 1983 as a sub- prefect of the arrondissement.
