SBCS
The term Single Byte Character Set ( SBCS) is sometimes used to designate character encodings, only use one byte to represent a character. The term SBCS is thereby used primarily as opposed to Double Byte Character Set (DBCS ) and Multibyte Character Set ( MBCS).
The most famous SBCS character set is probably the ASCII code.
