Scarlet (British band)

Scarlet was a British pop duo from Hull, Yorkshire, England.

Band History

The band consisted of Cheryl Parker (vocals, guitar) and Jo Youle ( piano, keyboards, vocals). Originally yet part as the third member Joanna Fox to, but already left the band before the success came.

The remaining duo released their debut album in 1995 Naked and the title contained therein Independent Love Song was the biggest hit of the band that was arranged stylistically between Shakespear 's Sister and Letters to Cleo. Peculiarity was that Parker and Youle have written all the songs on the album. The second single I Wanna Be Free ( To Be With Him) was a small success only in the UK yet.

Scarlet, published in 1996 another album, but just as the resulting coupled- Singles completely flopped. Their record company WEA Records dropped the group and the members went different ways.

Independent Love Song was released in 1996 on the soundtrack of American film drama Bed of Roses and was in a 1997 cover version and a commercial success for the German punk band The Bates.
