Schattenberg (Allgäu Alps)

Shadow Mountain above Oberstdorf and the Schattenbergschanze

Pd4

The Shadow Mountain is a 1,845 m high mountain in the Allgäu Alps. It is located southeast of Oberstdorf and is the most westerly summit in the trending of the pointer to the west ridge separating Faltenbach and Oytal each other. At an altitude of 1,692 m, there is a cross, from its location itself offers an interesting view of Oberstdorf. At the foot of the mountain is named after him Schattenbergschanze in Oberstdorf, the venue for the annual opening of jumping Four Hills Tournament.

Ascent

In the shadow of the mountain leads no marked path, only a hard-to -find, tedious Jägersteig. The way on east to the pointer on the ridge is (despite initial path meshing the shadow peaks ) without displacement and leads through mountain pine scrub and is Bergunerfahreren strongly advise against, as have already occurred fatal crashes especially in the eastern part of the ridge.
