Schernebeck is a district of the city of Tangier cottage in the south of the district of Stendal, in Saxony -Anhalt ( Germany ).

Geography

The location on the southern edge of the Altmark is between the upper section of the river Lüderitz Tangier and the Colbitz - Letzlinger Heath. The densely forested terrain southwest of Schernebeck rises from Tangertal by almost 80 meters and is part of a large military training area on the border with County beading. Tangerhütte is located approximately six kilometers southeast of Schernebeck.

History

The town was mentioned in a deed of the ( San Lorenzo ) Monastery in Schoningen 1121 for the first time as Schirinbeche ( = " clear stream ").

The 1896 by Colbitzer Contractors Bierstedt Jacob ( 1839-1905 ) built brick church in the village center Schernebecker took the place of a derelict demolished church. It is 36 meters high, the stained glass windows are decorated with ornate stained glass. The altarpiece and the pulpit created court sculptor Gustav Kuntzsch from Wernigerode.

As part of the village renewal, a new community center was opened in the last few years, building facades and roofs, the village street and the green areas rehabilitated.

On May 31, 2010, Schernebeck joined with the other municipalities in the administrative community Tangerhütte - country together to the new city Tangerhütte.
