Schiller (crater)

Schiller is an impact crater in the southern lunar front side, east of the crater Phocylides and northwest of Clavius . Schiller has a peculiar, elongated- oval shape with the long axis to the northwest includes ( in approximate direction of the Mare Orientale ). At the northern end is an elongated comb- like elevation, otherwise the crater floor is mostly flat.
The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 by the German astronomer Julius Schiller.
