Phocylides (crater)

115.18

Phocylides is an impact crater on the southwestern edge of the lunar front side, south of the Great Barrier level of Schickard and southeast of Wargentin. Its northern part covers some of the nearby crater Nasmyth. The rim is eroded with traces of terracing, the interior lavagefüllt and flat.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Frisian astronomers Johannes Phocylides Holwarda.
