Nasmyth (crater)

78.37

Nasmyth is an impact crater on the southwestern edge of the lunar front side, south of the Great Barrier level of Schickard, east of Wargentin and north of Phocylides which overlays the southern part of Nasmyth. The rim is eroded and the interior, as in the neighboring craters filled with lava.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Scottish engineer and astronomer James Nasmyth.
