Schlesische Zeitung

The Silesian newspaper belonged to the destruction of Breslau in 1945, the most renowned newspapers in Prussia or the German Reich.

History

Founder of the Silesian newspaper was the Breslau bookseller Johann Jakob Korn, the newspaper received the privilege of Prussian King Frederick II of Prussia after seizing power in Silesia. On January 3, 1742 first edition of the new newspaper appeared under the name Silesian privileged state, war and peace newspaper. Initially, the newspaper was printed three times a week. In 1801, the edition was 1200 to 1300 pieces; it was printed on eight printing presses ( hand presses ).

In 1813 the newspaper was entitled Silesian privileged newspaper; in issue No. 34 of March 20, 1813 published the appeal "To My People " by Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm, bringing the wars of liberation against Napoleonic France began. At this time the newspaper was already available at all post offices, royal Prussia.

As of 1881, the Silesian newspaper was printed even three times a day. 1892 celebrated the paper 's 150th anniversary; there appeared a 340 -page anniversary book showing the German or European history and the history of the newspaper from 1742 to 1892. The newspaper was still owned by the descendants of grain.

Beginning of the 20th century brought the Silesian newspaper supplement the Silesian Illustrated newspaper as a weekly supplement out; it was printed in their own gravure printing.

With the downfall of the Silesian newspaper 1945, the publishing activities of the family ended up grain in Silesia. After a new start in Munich, the publisher was taken over in 1980 by the Foundation Kulturwerk Silesia and today bears the name of Berg Publishers City Wilhelm Gottlieb Korn GmbH. In September 1949, the printing of the Silesian Zeitung GmbH was and their property confiscated by the Polish State and has passed into its possession.
