Schneealpe

The Schneealpe or Schneealm is a limestone massif in the Northern Limestone Alps in the Styrian and Lower Austrian border. The highest elevation is 1,903 m mountain with the wind. Other peaks are Ameisbühel (also Amaißbichl, 1,828 m, on the east by the Styrian and Lower Austrian border ), the beautiful holding Reck ( 1860 m, west of the Wind Mountain ) and the thunder wall ( 1,799 m, in the north- west).

Valley is a Hinternaßwald in the northeast, Altenberg an der Rax in the east, chapels and Neuberg an der Murz in the south, Miirzsteg and Frein an Miirz in the West. The wooded mountains and hills north of Schneealpe are not populated.

On the plateau are the Schneealpenhaus in about 1,780 m altitude and several mountain huts. On the western edge of the plateau, on the Hinteralm is another refuge of the Alpine Club, the Hinteralmhaus. In the northern area is the headwaters of the Cold Murz. The snow Alps heard together with the Rax and Schneeberg, the catchment area of the First Vienna Mountain Spring Pipeline. Through the 1965-1968 erected by the City of Vienna Schneealpenhaus tunnel Drinking water is routed according to Hinternaßwald.
