Schwanthaler

The Schwanthalerstraße family was a family of sculptors of the Baroque and Rococo era ( 17th - 19th century) in Ried in Innviertel.

Hans schwa (be) nthaler founded in 1632 in Ried a sculpture workshop, which existed until 1838. About two centuries then the family of sculptors Schwanthalerstraße in Ried was resident and artistic work. One of the main masters of the workshop include Thomas Rieder, Johann Franz and Johann Peter the Elder.

A branch of the family of sculptors was two generations in Munich. The best known representative of this is Michael Ludwig - creator of Bavaria.
