Schwartzkopff-Eckhardt II bogie

A Schwartzkopff Eckhardt steering rack (also Schwartzkopff Eckhardt - frame ) is a mechanical component for improving the Kurvenläufigkeit, which is used in steam engines. It was named formerly L. Schwartzkopff and their chief designer Friedrich Wilhelm Eckhardt after the locomotive factory Berliner Maschinenbau - Actien Society.

The Schwartzkopff Eckhardt steering rack is a further development of the Krauss- Helmholtz steering rack, with two driving axles and the drive axle of a vehicle are grouped together for the steering rack. The barrel axis articulated via a long pole to the second coupled axle, these shifts over Beugniot lever the first coupled axle. These steering racks were used in the series 84

The steam locomotives of the series 99.23-24 received a modified version from the factory or after conversion.
