Swiss box is a district of the municipality in the district of Neuwied wind Hagen in Rhineland- Palatinate.

Geography

The village in front Westerwald lies at about 300 m above sea level. NN near the border with North Rhine -Westphalia. Geographically, it is located at the junction of the east extending Asbacher plateau in the Rhine Westerwald volcanic ridge in the west. History

In the probably first written references from the years 1434 and 1527 the town was named in a feudal formation Sweyfeld 1888 it was written pig field. The vernacular name of the place is " Swejfeld " (separate pronunciation of " e" and " i" ). Already in 1519, is on the pilgrimage route between the provost and the monastery of Saint Catherine Oberpleis called a cloister in the present-day spelling welding field.

In 1660 were named in welding field five houses in taking inventory of all Honnschaften in the Official Altenwied, which was carried out by order of the Elector of Cologne Maximilian Henry of Bavaria. Welding field belonged to Honschaft Rederscheid ( formerly known as Hohner Honnschaft ) in the parish of wind Hagen and stood until the early 19th century the administration of the Electoral Cologne Office Altenwied. In the village center there is a cross, erected in the village community in 1895. Celtic settlement rings were found on the nearby Asberg in the 1930s that no longer exist due to the basalt mining today.
