Science & Technology Facilities Council

The Science and Technology Facilities Council ( STFC ) is a British Government organization to support the natural and engineering sciences. It promotes research in the UK, particularly in the fields of particle physics, nuclear physics, physics of space and astronomy. It manages various research centers and organizes the participation of the United Kingdom in international research institutions and organizations such as CERN and ESA.

STFC was formed in 2007 through a merger of the Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council ( PPARC ) and the Council for the Central Laboratory of the Research Councils ( CCLRC ).
