The Braunwarzige Hartbovist ( Scleroderma verrucosum ) is a 3-7 cm large mushroom of the family Kartoffelbovistverwandte ( Sclerodermataceae ). Features

Macroscopic characteristics

The fruiting body often has the shape of a flattened tuber, the base being extended stalk -like. It has a leather-like outer skin ( peridium ), which is initially smooth and later covered with numerous small brown scales on a light background. The color varies between yellow and brown. The fruit pulp is white and firm when young mushrooms; it has an unpleasant odor and pungent taste. Later, the pulp is soft and turns into an olive-brown tone. At maturity, the interior is made ​​of black spore powder. The fruiting body ruptures at the top, so that the mature spores escape in the form of dust clouds.

Microscopic characteristics

The spores have a diameter of 8 to 11.6 microns ( without spines ). The spines are between 1.0-1.4 microns long.

Artabgrenzung

Especially similar is the leopard-skin Hartbovist ( Scleroderm areolatum ). From him the Braunwarzige differs by more feinwarzigere spores and a pronounced grubigen stem. Furthermore, the leopard-skin Hartbovist slightly smaller and has a leopard skin -like outer layer.

Similarity also has the Thick-shelled Kartoffelbovist, but can be even bigger and has a thick outer shell.

Ecology and phenology

The frequent Braunwarzige Hartbovist grows from June to October individually or in small groups in deciduous and mixed forest on calcareous soils but also on nutrient -rich ground in parks and forests.

Feed value

The Braunwarzige Hartbovist is toxic. The consumption can lead to digestive problems such as vomiting and abdominal pain. In addition, sweats and low blood pressure with dizziness and collapse, possibly to unconsciousness occur. The toxic effect can already use 30 to 45 minutes after the mushroom meal. Also, blurred vision and discomfort are certainly occurred after the consumption in individual cases.
