Scott Smith (author)

Scott B. Smith ( born July 13, 1965 in Summit, New Jersey) is an American author and screenwriter.

Smith studied at Dartmouth College and Columbia University in New York City and then devoted himself to writing books. 1993, his first novel, A Simple plan appeared. After the adaptation of the material to a script created in 1998, directed by Sam Raimi of the eponymous feature film.

Smith has been nominated for an Oscar Adapted Screenplay for his work in 1999 in the category. In the same year he was honored by the Broadcast Film Critics Association awarded the Critics Choice Award. His published in 1995 in Sweden novel En enkel Plan ( Original: A Simple Plan, dt: A very simple plan ) was awarded the prestigious Swedish thriller prize of the " Svenska Deckarakademin " ( Swedish Crime Academy ) - awarded International.

In 2006 he published under the title The Ruins (German: thicket ) his second novel, which also became an international bestseller. The film adaptation by the U.S. director Carter Smith on 2 April 2008 premiere in Hollywood.
