Seaforth Highlanders

The Seaforth Highlanders were a regiment of the British Army.

The regiment comes from the Scottish central highlands around the Highland capital of Inverness and was built in 1881 by the amalgamation of the 72nd Highlanders ( Duke of Albany 's Own ) and the 78th Highlanders ( Ross -shire Buffs ). The Regimentskilt consisted of the colors of the Mackenzie clan ( schwarzumrandete green and blue squares, covered with a large red and small white wickerwork ), their regimental march was Cabar Feigh ( to German, the antlers of the deer or symbolic Spearheading ) and her cap emblem was a Twelve - Ender - deer with the inscription including CUIDICH 'N RIGH ( Help the King ).

In 1961, the regiment of Seaforth Highlanders with the Queen 's Own Cameron Highlanders regiment Queen's Own Highlanders were amalgamated. 1994 this regiment was then united with the Gordon Highlanders regiment The Highlanders ( Seaforth, Gordons and Camerons ). Since May 2006, all Scottish regiments were grouped together for the Royal Regiment of Scotland; The Highlanders ( Seaforth, Gordons and Camerons ) today form the 4th Battalion of this regiment, which continues the traditions of the Seaforth Highlanders and the other Scottish regiments tradition.

Among others, the Seaforth Highlanders took part in the battles of Omdurman, Caen and Magersfontein.
