Seasick Steve

Seasick Steve ( * 1941 in Oakland, actually Steve Wold ) is an American blues musician.

Steve Wold comes from broken homes. When he was four years old, his parents separated, with 14 he ripped off from home, went about as " Hobo" ( migrant workers ) and chatted with odd jobs, but also landed several times in prison. He has also performed as a musician in the area known blues musicians, after he had already learned to play guitar as a child. He also worked frequently as a studio help in recording studios and gained experience as a sound engineer, so he finally took root professionally.

In the early 1990s he settled as a studio musician in Seattle and worked with bands such as Bikini Kill and Modest Mouse, whose first two albums he produced.

Steve Wold, who had always been on the road a lot in his earlier years and had frequently changed residence, settled down after a heart attack in the 2000s with his Norwegian wife in their home. Only at the age of 60 years he took in 2004 on his first album. Together with the Swedish backing band Level Devils released their album Cheap.

Two years later, he released a solo album titled Dog House Music. In the UK it reached popularity through his special appearance in the New Year's Eve show of Jools Holland, where he played three titles. In 2007, he was then one of the most successful con artist and was honored in June this year with the British MOJO Award for Breakthrough Act for his musical breakthrough. With some delay, his success then struck down well in the charts. Beginning of 2008 reached Dog House Music in the independent charts and number 2 in the official album charts 47th place

The Blue songs by Seasick Steve mainly deal with his hobo - time and their own experiences and tell autobiographical stories. On both albums, he also told without music, among other things, a dog who accompanied him for some time and left behind him a dozen puppies. This is also the theme of the album, the dog house ( doghouse ) developed.

That same year, Steve Wold released a new album titled I Started Out with Nothin 'and I Still Got Most of It Left and so this time he popped straight into the Top 10 in the UK one.
