Sebald de Weert

Sebald de Weert ( born May 2, 1567 Antwerp, † 1603 in Batticaloa (Ceylon) ) was a Dutch navigator who tried in the wake of Jacques Mahu to find the Strait of Magellan on the sea route to India.

He was captain of the ship Blijde Boodschap ( German: Good News ), after the ship de Geloof ( German: faith ).
