Sebnitz (river)

BW

The Sebnitz is the left, larger source of the river salmon creek and runs in the Czech Republic and Saxony. On Bohemian ( Czech ) area they shall be called Vilémovský Potok ( German: Wölmsdorfer Bach).

Geography

The Sebnitz, or Wölmsdorfer creek, rises in the Bohemian Netherlands in a broad valley between the 608 m high Hrazený ( Pirsken ) and the 593 m high Plešný ( Plissenberg ), 2 km north- west of the village Brtníky ( Zeidler ). The creek flows in a northwesterly direction to Velky Šenov ( Grossschönau ), where he Potok following its course changes the valley of Šenovský southwest and between Vilémov ( Wölmsdorf ) and Mikulášovice passed through it.

Below these places is the Wölmsdorfer creek between the Spálený vrch ( Hillebrand, 443 m ) and the Wolfenstein ( 392.9 m) at Dolina ( Franzthal ) to the border stream between the Czech Republic and projecting into the Bohemian area German corner of Sebnitzer forest. From this section it is described as Sebnitz or Sebnitzbach. After the border crossing Sebnitz - Dolni Poustevna it flows a few hundred meters as a boundary stream and then flows through the eponymous town Sebnitz as the quaint Sebnitztal to unite after 30.8 kilometers with the Polenz above Porsch village to the salmon stream. With an average outflow of about 1.9 m³ / s, the Sebnitz is actually described as the headwaters of the Salmon creek, as the Polenz / s leads to about 1.1 m³ less water. The lower part of Sebnitztales was mainly known through the course of Sebnitztalbahn with their seven tunnels.
