Sec -butylamine is a chemical compound selected from the group of aliphatic amines. It is a primary amine, and isomeric with n-butylamine, tert-butylamine and isobutylamine. sec -butylamine is in the form of a colorless, volatile and highly flammable liquid.
History
Sec -butylamine is used after detailed studies of its effect in the 1960s as a fungicide ( Eckert and Kolbezen, 1962) for citrus fruits.
Properties
The vapor is 2.52 times heavier than air.
Stereoisomers forms
Sec -butylamine comes in two stereoisomeric forms [(R) - or (S )-sec -butylamine ] before.
When it is mentioned in this article or in the scientific literature " sec -butylamine " without an additional element to the configuration, the racemate [( RS )-sec -butylamine or (± )-sec -butylamine ] is always meant.
Use
Sec -butylamine is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of various organic compounds, and as a fungicide.
Safety
The vapors of sec- butylamine to form an explosive mixture with air. Its flash point is -20 ° C.
