Secretary of State for India
The Secretary of State for India ( " Secretary of State for India " ) was a created due to the Government of India Act of August 2, 1858 ministerial posts of the British government, mostly in the Cabinet rank. The Secretary of State was the political head of the India Office, the body responsible for the administration of British India authority of the British government. He was assisted by a Parliamentary Under- Secretary of State and a permanent undersecretary.
After the spin-off Burma from the British Raj in 1937 the office was known as the Secretary of State for India and Burma. After the partition of India in 1947 and the independence of India and Pakistan still existed until 1948, the post of Secretary of State for Burma, which was abolished after independence in Myanmar.
