Seebach (Regnitz)

The Seebach is a left-side tributary of the Regnitz in Middle Franconia. It rises west of the way village in the hamlet Sintmannsbuch ( Acc Gerhardshofen ) and initially flows through a whole chain of ponds. Until the construction of the Main- Danube Canal, the east of Seebach led Kleinseebach in the Regnitz, today it flows into the channel.

The Seebachgrund is considered ecologically valuable meadow valley and houses, among other rare bird, insect and plant species. The exceptionally sandy soil in Seebachtal contributes to this diversity of endangered species at ( see also Sand axis francs). The Seebachtal is recognized as a regional green space in regional planning and thus largely protected from development.

The eastern Seebachtal in the range of Möhrendorf and Kleinseebach was formerly flooded regularly. The new, straightened drain into the channel, and an additional overflow into the canal southwest of Möhrendorf which limits the amount of water in the area of the municipality Möhrendorf, preventing floods in this river section completely since the early 1970s. They set up in the past Kleinseebach some considerable damage, such as in July 1941.

Nevertheless, are also located in this area of particular ecological value sections. For areas of Seebach, who lost by human natural character of the land use plan of the municipality Möhrendorf provides a partial restoration.

The Seebachtal is only partially accessible, as there are no roads which run parallel to the river bank area.
