Geographical Location

The village is located about 15 km west of Erlangen and is a preferred residential area for commuters to Erlangen.

History

The first written mention of the village was way in the year 1288th The name means village is originally from wheat that has been grown in the fields around the village way.

Incorporations

On January 1, 1972, the formerly independent communities Reinersdorf and Rezelsdorf were incorporated ( 1875-1895 Retzleinsdorf ) and parts of the municipalities Hammerbach and sub- Reichenbach. On May 1, 1978 Kairlindach and Oberlindach and parts were added to the dissolved municipality Boxbrunn.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms description reads: Split of gold and blue; a front left inverted, Covered with a silver slant Links bar, red reinforced black lion; rear of green Dreienberg growing a green perennial with three golden marigolds.

The coat of arms was granted by the Ministry of the Interior with certificate of 30 November 1949. It is divided into two halves: the left there is the coat of arms of the Bishopric of Bamberg, a black lion with red paws and red tongue on a golden background. From the bottom left is a silver slash moves to the upper right. This is pointed out that way village was a fief of the bishopric until 1802. The right half shows a marigold with yellow flower and green stem on also green ground against a sky blue background.
