Seehügel

The Seehügel is a 953 m high mountain in the Fichtelgebirge. He lies in the snow mountain range and there just south of the Nußhardts. The mountain is closest to the city Fichtelbergbahn. Near mountains are also the ox head in the west and the plate in the southeast.

The mountain was named in 1492 Farnleiten, then Farenleutten, Farleite, Farnleiten, High Farrenleithen, where most of the entire south-west slope was named after. It was not until 1799 can be found for the first time the name Seeberg, so the mountain above the Ficht Elsees.

About the Seehügel runs the European watershed between the North Sea and Black Sea. In addition, here is the southern terminus of the main stream watershed between the Rhine and the Elbe river basin and is the watershed point between the largest, at FRG territory that encounter each main stream catchments.

Former mining

On the western slope, the trail middle of the B303 to the lake house, remember deep trenches at the former mining of tin.

Touristic development

Over the hill of the Frankish mountain road, the trail, the Seenweg and the middle of the Fichtelgebirge club runs. On the western slope is located to 922 meters, the lake house, guest house of the Society Fichtelgebirge.
